Agent Simon Yatforth is an agent of an alien council in A New World Opens. Specializing in infiltration and assassination, he's working with his sister, Caraline Yatforth, to find and retrieve a powerful weapon known as Atholasha and protect it from enemy agents thusfar known only as the Karo. He also has another mission on Andaria, which has not yet been revealed.

Physical Traits and Appearance

Simon Yatforth is an Erite; an alien anthropoid strongly resembling a human. Outwardly, there isn't much difference between an Erite and a human. The only immediate indicator for Simon is his red eyes, something particularly rare and unusual for a human. Someone looking more closely would also notice that an Erite's skin pigmentation leans to the blue side of the color spectrum, rather than the human red. In height, Simon measures in at 6'4". Simon is moderately-built for an Erite, but his muscle mass and skeletal structure put his weight roughly at 290 pounds.

The Erite is inherently stronger and faster than a human, and capable of taking more of a beating. This, coupled with Yatforth's intense training, has made him a very daunting foe to face in a fight.

Simon generally favors dark clothing, and is particularly fond of covering as much of his body as physically possible. Common apparel for him includes a dark tunic, pants, boots, gloves, and cloak.

Mentality

Stubborn and cocky. While he is perfectly competent at subtle infiltration, his typical approach prefers the idea of leaving a trail of bodies. Violence tends to be Simon's prime answer to a situation. He also prefers to work alone, and is downright hostile toward the idea of working with a partner. However, his harsh training to become an Erite agent means that his emotions become almost entirely muted during an intense situation.

During downtime, he tends to be excitable and somewhat childish. This gets accentuated whenever he's around his sister Caraline.

Abilities

Being an Erite has many advantages, which have been further pushed by his training. He is faster and more powerful than any known human, and can take a powerful beating in return. Like any Erite agent, he has been trained extensively in hand-to-hand martial arts and Garotis marksmanship. He also has minor knowledge in Erosian runework.

He also has a high ESQ, enabling him to channel high levels of raw magical energy. He is not a mage; he can merely release the energy or manipulate it within his own body. This enables him to heal wounds, fire blasts of energy, or shield himself from attack. He's also capable of transferring this energy to another being or object, though once it leaves him, he loses control over it. He can operate any device using Erosian runework as well.

Being an Erite also has its downsides. Erite biology is meant for lower temperatures than a human, and will burn at a lower temperature than a human as well. Additionally, his body mass and density make swimming a particularly daunting and exhausting task.

Residence

Nebulan's abandoned tower on Rouen Isle, which serves both as a home and as a base of operations.

Duties

His primary duties consist of whatever the Erosian council wills. His missions usually include infiltrating hostile territory, assassinating enemy targets, and generally making a mess out of an enemy's infrastructure or leadership. Right now, he has two missions on Andaria. The first is to find Deftinfox's weapon, Atholasha, and return it to the Erosian Councilate. The second is known only to him.

Relationship with Others

Simon Yatforth generally tries to avoid any sort of personal relationship with another. He also tends to shun longterm interaction, viewing other people as tools and nothing more.

Agent Caraline Yatforth

Simon's sister. On the surface, they get along poorly, constantly bickering with each other and generally making their lives a living hell. This has only been made worse by Caraline acting as senior agent on the mission to Andaria, something which irritates Simon to no end. Despite this, however, they both love each other deeply, and would lay down their lives for one another.

Possessions

Aside from his expensive clothes, there are no immediately noticeable belongings on his person. However, he carries two different wands concealed, and wears a bracelet concealed under his wrist.

Tyinomatas

Tyinomatas.

A wand once belonging to an Erite known as Griseham, Tyinomatas is Simon's favored weapon for large crowds or killing mages; it's a small, nearly foot-long wand with a white-sapphire tip. Despite its rather feeble appearance, Tyinomatas is a very formidable weapon. When fired, it launches a small, white bolt of energy which burns through anything it hits, up to the equivalent of four inches of solid adamantine.

Tyinomatas is one-of-a-kind; Griseham created it by accident, and was not able to duplicate it, despite twenty years of trying.

Mark-II Garotis

A metallic wand with an orange gemstone tip, the Mark-II Garotis is a favored weapon amongst Erite military endeavors. When fired, the weapon launches a blast of orange energy. Upon contact with inanimate material, it typically will simply burn through it. When it hits a living creature, however, the energy absorbs into the creature, overloading it and generally causing its body to collapse under itself. At the point of impact, it typically leaves a large burn.

A hit from a Mark-II Garotis will typically knock a target back as well. The purpose of this is to stop a reinforced attacker from simply charging through multiple blasts.

Comcrystal

A must for most Erite spies. A comcrystal is an Erite device designed for communicating with someone who is not immediately present. Each comcrystal is custom designed, and can only communicate with other comcrystals designed to receive it. They are activated typically by rolling the gem in whatever setting it's built into, and is generally made to appear as simple jewelry.

NPC Acquaintances

Simon's only acquaintance of note is Hathar, an Oran in the shape of a cat.
