Zanara is a nation in UtSS. Contains the largest and most ingenious weapons and miscellaneous technologies in Thryn. Still growing strong, but lacking military competence due to a relatively long stretch of time without combat.
Geography
Zanara dominates a relatively large landmass in Central Thryn as well as a small collection of islands off the western coast. Shares borders with Ionar to the north, Vyirint to the southeast, and a currently unnamed NPC nation to the southwest. Most of Zanara comprises of rolling hills, but has rich fertile land with plenty of rivers to keep the nation nourished with ease. The two islands to the north serve mostly as fishing areas simply adding variety to the Zanarian diet. The entire southern border is made up by the Kyshad Range which holds a few mining areas.
Politics
Zanara is ruled by a Monarchy as it has been since its founding. For the past few generations, it's been run by the Hail family. However, power is also contained by a few other families which both run various industries and such as well as provide council and advise to the king. It is notable that all of higher power and thus society have rather odd names. Always a stone as the first name, flower/plant/fungai as the middle name, and anything even remotely weather related as the last.
Current notable holders of significant power:
- Onyx Hail - King of Zanara; holds absolute power
- Obsidian Rain - Weapon/Miscellaneous Technology; leads the best and most well known weapons program in Thyrn
- Agate Cloud - Military; commands the military as directed by the king, not to be confused with his two sons (one of which is a General, the other being just a "regular" soldier)
Military
With plentiful agriculture, superior technology, and sizable population, Zanara comfortably keeps up a decently strong military. Unfortunately, due to lack of competition from even the random small groups, Zanara has very few veterans left and so all branches are comprised of and leaded by inexperienced persons. All military personal wear some variant of a Puce uniform.
Ground
Zanara's main fighting force, the land army is composed mainly of foot soldiers. Infantry are generally equipped with ZMRs--sometimes ZMCs in certain situations--as well as ZMPs. A select percentage are trained specifically to carry and use either artillery based weaponry or ZPGs to handle enemy zeppelins. Most artillery are currently an explosive rocket variety. Horses are used by the military, though almost never for combat use. Instead, they mainly serve to help transfer various large objects.
Zanara's navy is its smallest branch, but still nothing to be underestimated. Due to being the most used and dealing with the occasional danger such as storms or pirates, it is also much less incompetent than the rest of the military. Not really at all incompetent, really, as pirates fear and thus will rarely be seen in the same view as Zanarian ships. Much of the navy is used to protect coastal areas, however, Zanara devotes a good portion and so has a good reputation for making sure that trade ships are well protected. Some foreigners say that they feel safer with Zanarian ships than ones from their own nation. Regardless, most nations could sadly outmatch Zanara's navy on a neutral plain.
Airforce
The largest and fastest airforce on Thyrn, Zanarian zeppelins can be often seen more than in Zanara. Besides the deadly anti infantry, anti air, and anti navy, some of Zanara's airforce is also devoted to mass transportation. They are sometimes used to trade when the use of ships would be less efficient. Foreign nations are also allowed to use this means for a fee, though the ships are still piloted by Zanarians. People will also travel with what is referred to as Zanara Airlines.
Police and Border Control
Zanara also has a small section devoted to keeping order within Zanara cities and villages. Some also stay in key positions at the border for protection and to keep out any who are unwanted. Some even carry ZPGs just in case they are caught by surprise by a random attack by air.
