The Calamity Refuge Alert System is an Island-wide warning system meant to alert the Calamity Refuge administration to a threat. It's activated via a Remote Moderation Module, the moderation center of a specific forum, or the Admin Tower. When sounded, all of the news banners around the island will proceed to flash the current alert code, and all RMMs will start sounding alarms. Furthermore, the RMMs will show where the alert was sounded. As of the most recent software update, the forums can now automatically identify a problem and sound the appropriate alarm.
The alert system comprises of several color codes, sometimes appended by Alpha (increased severity) or Delta (high severity). The codes are:
Code | Meaning | -Alpha | -Delta | Note |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | Fire | Engulfed Forum | Multiple Fora; Widespread; Quickfire | Controlled fires do not qualify as a Code Red. An example of a Code Red-Delta occurred near the end of the Time-Fracture Incident. |
Yellow | Contagious Pathogen Released | Has Infected; Pathogen Contained | Has Infected; Pathogen Loose | - |
Green | All-clear | Does not sound an alarm. Clears any current codes. | ||
Orange | Flame War | Three or More Parties | Admin Assistance is Needed | Does not alert news banners. Code Orange and Orange-Alpha are rarely sounded, since it requires a moderator to sound them, and a moderator is what's needed to break one up. |
Silver | Armed Intruder | Dangerous; Try to Resolve Peacefully | Dangerous; Kill-on-Sight | Both a plain Code Silver and a Code Silver-Alpha mean to resolve peacefully if possible. Colloquially known as a Code Ackrovan in reference to Ackrovan's arrival at Calamity Refuge. |
White | Magical Accident | Magical Radiation (any rogue magic floating in the air that could have undesirable effects) or Mutated Creature | Dark or Ancient Magic Present (Basically, anything that's either pure evil or has the potential to unmake the universe) |
Magical accident refers to an unusual magical accident, not an accident with magic. A stray fireball would more likely qualify under a Code Red or Blue. The Time-Fracture Incident is a textbook example of a Code White (a Code White-Alpha or White-Delta depending on how you look at it). |
Blue | Severe Injury | Injury Requiring Immediate Treatment | Death | Code Blue is sounded only if there is no one present capable of handling the injury. Nioca's fall from the BoA Moderation Centre is an example of a Code Blue. |
Black | Explosion | Large Explosion Imminent | Catastrophic Explosion Imminent (likely to damage at least half the island) |
Unlike the other Codes, Code Black-Alpha and Black-Delta mean to keep away from the area, for obvious reasons. |
Gray | Creature Loose or Dangerous Pest Infestation | Dangerous Creature Loose | Highly Dangerous or Magical Creature Loose (a dragon or something similar)) |
The Spam Beast infestations are an example of a Code Gray. |
Cyan | Raiding Party | Small Attack Force | Full-Scale Invasion | A raiding party is defined as 6 or less people. Anything above that but less than an army is considered a Small Attack Force. |
Violet | Hostile Member | Hostile Moderator | Hostile Administrator (more for thoroughness than anything; it's well known that if an admin goes rogue, everyone's screwed. Furthermore, a rogue admin would likely qualify as a Code Sigma) |
Instated after the Time-Fracture Incident. Colloquially known as a Code Nioca for the first instance of it. |
Sigma | Immediate evacuation. All members and moderators are to leave at once unless otherwise quarantined or apprehended. | Can be combined with another code to indicate the threat; I.E. a Code Sigma-Yellow means a pathogen caused evacuation. Colloquially known as a Code Run-Like-Hell. |
