Dantius is a recent arrival at the Refuge, fleeing there after being persecuted at various other locations on the Internet plane.
Appearance
Dantius' age is nearly impossible to place from a mere glance, with observations ranging from late twenties to early fifties. Most observers, however, place him at somewhere in the mid to late thirties age range. He stands at an imposing 6'3", weighing about 170 pounds, and will usually wear a green, blue, or red Shaper robe. He usually obscures his face with a hood in public, but will take it off indoors or when with friends or acquaintances. His face is thin and elongated, but normally emotionless due to slight self-modification in the far distant past. He will occasionally smile or frown, but overall he remains at a relatively consistent emotional level, and never exhibits anger or passion.
Personality
Surprisingly, Dantius is an exceptionally personable person, and comes off as a friendly and amicable man. He has a innate ability to make those around him feel relaxed and at ease. He is a gifted speaker and an excellent listener. Many who meet him get the impression that his is likable. However, this is merely an elaborate facade that Dantius has put on for such a long period of time that it simply became easier to always keep it. He uses the trust people place in him to manipulate them for his own gain, and sometimes sees people as nothing more than tools to be manipulated. However, his acting skills are so good that, too often, people do not realize this until after he has already obtained what he wanted, and they are of no further use to him.
History
Dantius' past is little know, and for good reason. He refuses to reveal anything more than absolute general specifics of the past, and even those only to those who he trusts or has faith in, a number he could count on his hands. The only publicly known fact about him is that he has stated, somewhat enigmatically, that he was an "Employee" of the "Company".
Items
In addition to several more mundane magical items, Dantius also has in his possession two extraordinary artifacts, the Case of Holding and Blade of Cancellation.
Case of Holding- In his possession is a slim aluminum attaché case, perhaps a foot by eighteen inches, and no more than three inches thick. However, the internal volume of the case is much greater than it appears, able to contain literally thousands of times its apparent volume. In addition, if it is opened by anyone other than Dantius, it will appear to contain only mundane office supplies. He will frequent use it to carry dangerous items, as it contains them in a manner where they can do no harm, or as an instrument to smuggle things he wishes to remain unknown.
Blade of Cancellation- His favorite weapon by far, this slim steel blade has been carefully and exhaustively enchanted to give it the ability to sever certain spells and wards (in a manner very similar to the Blessed Athame), and to effectively dispel protective enchantments over small areas. However, it is a light and small sword, weighing only a few pounds and not exceeding 3 feet in length, making it less effective in combat than his staff or knives.
Relationships with others
Dantius has only had close contact with one other Refuge member as of yet.
Nalyd
Dantius' relationship with Nalyd is strained at absolute best. As one of Dantius' first actions at the forums was to raid Nalyd's lab and steal a Flawless Crystal, the Shaper confronted him and fought over it, with the end result of the battle being a draw. Stillborn convinced Nalyd to abandon the battle, but both still harbor animosity for the other.
